Hofman Projects was founded in 2018 with a simple goal: to deliver a high-quality, design-focused construction service with the same care and precision that architects put into their designs.
Our roots in the built environment go back generations. Construction runs in our blood. Our founder comes from a long line of builders and architects: his grandfather moved to South Africa and started his own construction company in 1968, and both his parents are architects. Growing up, job sites weren’t just part of life, they were the playground and the classroom.
That heritage shaped our approach. We understand the pressures of delivering complex, design-led projects. We know what it takes to honour the architect’s intent while keeping the build running smoothly, on time and within budget. We’re not just builders, we’re partners in the creative process.

MEET THE FOUNDER
As the founder and hands-on director of Hofman Projects, Rian Hofman brings a unique perspective to the role of contractor: one shaped by a lifetime surrounded by architects and builders.
Rian’s grandfather was a builder who immigrated to South Africa and ran his own construction company. His parents and sisters are both successful practicing architects. That upbringing meant that from an early age, Rian was immersed in design language, complaints about contractors, construction detailing discussions, and site logistics, learning the realities of building long before he ever picked up a set of plans.
